Since its founding, the Institute has made outstanding achievements in research, teaching, and academic service. Several teachers have won prestigious awards in Taiwan and abroad. Prof. Tzu-hao Cheng and Hong-Chen Chen received the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Outstanding Research Award; Prof. Jean-Cheng Kuo and Ao-Lin Hsu and Asst. Prof. Won-Jing Wang received the MOST Excellent Young Scholars Award; Prof. Jean-Cheng Kuo and Asst. Prof. Won-Jing Wang received the MOST Ta-You Wu Memorial Award; Pro. Ao-Lin Hsu received the Ellison Medical Foundation New Scholar Program in Aging Award; and Asst. Prof. Jie-Rong Huang received the Chemical Society of Japan Lectureship Award.
In the past 40 years, the Institute has produced 950 master’s and 290 doctoral graduates. The alumni serve at universities for research and teaching as well as at Academia Sinica, the National Health Research Institutes, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Food Industry Research and Development Institute, and in the biotechnology industry.
In the future, advancements in medicine and biotechnology will serve as a key driving force of economic and social progress. Drawing on its ample biomedical resources, its range of instruments for genomics and proteomics research, and the engagement of its students, teachers, and researchers, the Institute will persist in promoting life science and molecular medical research, improving academic performance, and contributing to the development of Taiwan’s biotechnology industry.
